Welcome to Smith Miner

Ann E. Beaver (Ives) of Midland passed away surrounded by her family on October 21, 2020. She was born December 9, 1954 in Warren, Michigan to Calvin and Emi Jo Rice.

Ann lived her life in service to others. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 35 years for Bay McLaren Health. She also worked several years as a chief flight nurse for Air-Evac International, flying to many different countries to bring injured Americans back to the United States.

She was even more dedicated to her family, always checking on them to make sure everything was going good in their lives. She loved cooking, sewing, reading, hosting family events, and spending time with family. She was the undisputed center and rock to her family, the “go-to-person” for advice. She was unwavering in her support, guidance, and love to those closest to her. She was the hug in tough times and the kick in the pants when needed to get you back on track. All of those privileged enough to know her are better people because of her.

Ann is survived by her husband, Larry Beaver, her parents Calvin and Emi Jo Rice of Coleman, her former husband Jim Ives, and their children Jeff (Michelle) Ives & Ryan (Casey) Ives; sisters Lisa (Charles) Hund, Cheryl Geno; brothers Calvin (Reva) Rice, Tom (Vicky) Rice; Grandchildren- Samantha, Kendra, Darrion, Aaron, and Tristen; plus 3 great-grandchildren- Westen, Bensen, and Sophina and her many nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved and touched deeply. She is also survived by her long-time best friend of 53 years, Diana Morley Kosnik, their love and support for each other was and will be everlasting.

A memorial service will take place at 6pm on Friday October 30th, 2020 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Ives officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 3pm until time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family in her memory.

Ann will be greatly missed. I work at her dental office she went to. Loved hearing about her nursing stories and I loved how real she was. She never sugar coated anything and to me, that’s a breath of fresh air. I am so sorry for your loss and sending prayers in this difficult time.
