Anna A. Steinka, 92, of Midland passed away on August 25, 2015 at Brittany Manor with family surrounding her. She was born on Sept 6, 1923, in Detroit to the late Henry and Bertha A. (Fenske) Steinke. On April 4, 1942 Anna married Arthur W. Steinka who predeceased her. Anna grew up in the Dearborn Area where attended schools. She worked as a cook at the Brown Derby and at the Old Hickory House. She was a custodian for the Rapid City Public School System. She was also a housekeeper for several prominent Midland families. Anna loved the Detroit Tigers, Crocheting and Knitting and donating her works to the needy. She enjoyed cooking especially around the holidays for entire family, she will be greatly missed. Anna is survived by her daughters; Bertha (Arthur) Beck, Katherine (Jack) Moore and Marie Steinka, sons; Arthur (Joan) Steinka, Bill (Mary) Steinka as well as 26 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Albert (Bonnie) Steinke and was predeceased by her son Larry Steinka and daughter Wilma Steinka, brothers Dan, Pete, Mike and Marvin Steinke and a sister Dorothy Vanmeter. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Smith Miner funeral home at 2:00 pm with Chaplain of Heartland Hospice Wayne Shidler officiating. Friends can visit with the family on Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are to consider the family in her name.
