(February 22, 1923 – October 8, 2014)

Arnold Wesley Decker moved from his home in Midland to his eternal home in Heaven on October 8, 2014. He was born in Midland on February 22, 1923 to the late Harold and Bernice (Brady) Decker.He graduated from Midland High School in 1941, and was later named the best second baseman of that era at MHS. He entered the Army in March of 1943 and served during WWII. In June of 1943, he married Gloria Jean Doramus on the same day she graduated from MHS. Four days later, he returned to the Army. In October of that same year, he was discharged from the Army while stationed in Oregon. He returned to Midland, worked a year at Dow Chemical and then became one of the first 100 employees of Dow Corning, from where he retired in 1985. He and Gloria have spent each winter since then in San Diego, where their daughter Carole lives. The other seasons of the year have been spent in Midland. Arnold had a life full of family, both in Michigan and in San Diego. His greatest enjoyment in life was to be useful to other people and equally so whether they be friends or family. He was a servant. He served his family very well. He is survived by his wife Gloria, his daughters; Carole Haworth of San Diego and Nancy Sutherland (Dave) of Plymouth, MI, son; David of Flushing MI, grandchildren; Wes Haworth (Kristi) and Hilary Beltran (Alex) of San Diego, Jenny Roose (Mike) of Plymouth, MI and Sarah Sutherland of Ortonville, MI and Eric and Kevin Decker, each of Royal Oak, MI and great grandchildren; Brady and Jadyn Haworth in San Diego, Bella, Macie and Claire Roose in Plymouth, MI. He is also survived by his brothers; Don of Midland and Gerald of Saginaw.His brother Burton and sisters Evelyn, Barb, and Sharon and twin infant great granddaughters Sophia and Lilyana preceded him in death.?Ç£If anyone were to ask me what I want out of life I would say-the opportunity for doing something useful, for in no other way, I am convinced, can true happiness be attained.?Ç¥ ?Çò Eleanor Roosevelt A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. David Brown officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of United States Army.
