Barbara Jean Schultz, 78, of Midland and formerly of Bay City, died on March 25, 2011 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born in Bay City on April 16, 1932 to the late Elsie (Uhlmann) and Leo Bigford. On Sept. 18, 1954 she married her sweetheart Raymond “Bud” Schultz, who preceded her exactly 18 years ago on March 25, 1993. Barb was an avid knitter and she was a member of several different knitting organizations. She was a huge tennis fan, going to tournaments around the country including in Texas and Michigan. Barb loved to travel and going out for lunch. She was active in the Republican Part, volunteering as often as she could. Barb enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Barb is survived by her sister Carol (Lawrence) Sabourin; sister-in-law, Helen Wenslof, brother-in-law, Harold (Bernice) Schultz; nieces, Barbara (Daniel) Foster, Lori (Michael) Smith; nephews, Mark (Sue) Sabourin and Brian (Pam) Sabourin and many friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland, with Reverend Roger Pancost of the United Church of Christ officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, April 4, from 4 til 7 pm and on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service. A private committal service will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Jude’s in Barbara’s name.
