Betty June Pitts, 92, of Midland passed away peacefully with her granddaughter at her side on June 29, 2021 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born to the late Loren and Clara (Sandhoff) Braley. She married Dewey Duane Hoover on May 31, 1947 who predeceased her on December 19, 1960. On July 6, 1979 at Blessed Sacrament Church Betty married Orville Pitts and they shared 35 years together before he passed on February 27, 2015. Betty enjoyed playing cards and camping in Glennie, MI. She was a beloved caregiver and family meant the most to her.


Betty is survived by her children, Darlene (Juan) Benitez, Wanda (James) Dangel, Brian (Paula) Pitts, Deni (Claudia) Pitts, James Pitts, grandchildren, Joshua Pitts, Jarred Pitts, Julianne Pitts, Nicholas Pitts, Lisa Dangel, Ty Dangel, Jon Dubay, Michael Dubay, David Dubay, Juan Benitez III, 10 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Royal Braley and a very dear niece and caregiver Linda Randall.


Betty was predeceased by daughters Judy Fath-Jackson, Brenda Hoover, son Gary Pitts, and seven brothers and sisters. 


A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at LaPorte Cemetery.
