Absent from the body, present with the Lord!Beulah Cleo Schultz, age 95, of Midland County , died September 4, 2011. She was born on May 6, 1916 in Midland County. Daughter of the late Allonzo Earl and Jennie Lynn (Smelser) Van Steinburg.Cleo married William Oscar Schultz on November 6, 1933 in Midland, Michigan. She was a homemaker , worked at Newberry?ÇÖs Dime Store and a nurses aid at Midland Hospital.Mother has joined hands with her savior, Jesus Christ. Her journey on earth is done. Her steadfast witness to her family and others is her legacy she leaves behind on this earth. She loved her church being one of the oldest Nazarene charter members of 91 years. Cleo was a prayer warrior for her church.In Cleo?ÇÖs early adult years she sang in a gospel quartette called Sacred Melody. The quartette sang on the radio station WJR ?Çô Detroit, WBCM ?Çô Bay City and WMPX ?Çô Midland. The quartette sang regularly at revivals, camp meetings and funerals.Cleo was a member of Michigan Co-operative extension for 25 years, she enjoyed camping, crocheting and talking on the telephone . The phone was a novelty and luxury.Cleo?ÇÖs husband predeceased her in 1988. She had five children, Herbert and (Ruth) Westphal of Houghton Lake, Donald and (Betty) Zahm of Midland, Jack and (Helen) Hoogerhyde, Neil and Judy Schultz and Harold and Gail Schultz all of Midland. Cleo has 12 grand children and 16 great grand children and one great-great grandson. Cleo was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. Cleo is survived by one sister-in-law, Dona Van Steinburg.The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Midland Nazarene Church , 5700 Jefferson Ave., Midland, Michigan with Reverends James Adams and David Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Wednesday, Sept. 7. from 4 til 7 pm and on Thursday at the church from10:00 am until the time of the Service.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Midland Nazarene Church on Jefferson Ave.The family would like to thank Tendercare Midland and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care of Mother.Online condolences can be given at smithminer.com
