Byron Gene Grunder, 80, of Midland, died on Sept. 10, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Gene was born in Bay City on May 10, 1930 to the late Isa Mae (Toutant) and Fred B. Grunder. On April 16, 1958 Gene married his sweetheart Linda Baker in London, England. Gene was in the US Air force for 21 years as a Flight Engineer and Instructor. He served in Vietnam and received many medals and commendations including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked for Acme Block and Supply in Saginaw. He was an avid golfer and loved traveling with his wife, friends and family. Gene is survived by his loving wife Linda; sons, Jason (Celeste) Grunder of Midland, Mark Grunder of Alpena; grandchildren, Katie, Rachel; 1 sister and 3 brothers. Gene was predeceased by 1 sister, 1 brother and his beloved dog Gizzy whom he has gone to see. According to Gene’s wishes, there will be no services.
