Calvin Pritchard, 90, of Midland died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at his home. Calvin was born on December 23, 1924 to the late Leonard and Edith (Hall) Pritchard, in Evart, Michigan. He graduated from Evart High School in 1943, lettering in football and baseball. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the 41st Infantry Division in the Philippines and Japan. After WWII, he was employed by the Dow Corning Corporation where he became a millwright until his retirement in 1987.Calvin married the former Mona Lou Thomas on March 27, 1948 in the Evart Methodist Church. He loved spending weekends and vacations in Lake City on Lake Missaukee. He also continued his love of sports, coaching little league baseball, peewee football, and played on various baseball teams into his seventies. He also enjoyed walleye fishing, deer and turkey hunting. He donated and volunteered at the Ernie Wallace Memorial Blood Bank, Dow Corning Division.Calvin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law. Thomas and Karen Pritchard of Midland, daughter, Jean Cartmill and fiance?ÇÖ Roman Kulich of Dunwoody, Ga; Sue Suhr of Coleman; Jon Pritchard of Coleman; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister Stella Hassell of Lupton, Michigan. He is predeceased by his parents; his wife; and sisters, Shirley D?ÇÖAmico of Covington, KY; Altha Rutz of Muskegon; brothers, Elwin Pritchard of Marion; Morton Pritchard of Ludington, Nelson Pritchard of Freeland; Alden Pritchard; and Marshall Pritchard.A private ceremony will be conducted on Friday.
