Welcome to Smith Miner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Caroline Ruth (Kern) Foster, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on January 12, 2021. The daughter of the late Theodore Kern Sr. and Anna (Beller) Kern. She shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with William L. Foster.

Caroline enjoyed sewing, was a fantastic baker and loved tending to her beautiful garden. Her weekly card games with her sisters were treasured times. Caroline loved her family and grandchildren most of all and was shown in everything she did. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She had two wonderful children, Rodney William (Karen) Foster and Sherri Jean (Wendell Ruder) Foster. The grandchildren were the bright light in her eyes, Lake, Skye, Lainey and Teaghan. Her siblings were the late Ricky Kern, Theodore (late Karen) Kern, Jr., Marilyn (late Boogie) Major, Jerry (Sandy) Kern, late Fred (Donna) Kern, Kathy (Tom) York, late Gregory (Judy) Kern and Renee (Gary) Hecht. Caroline was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Josh Parsons officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.

She was the best! I looked forward to her and William coming into Kroger. She was always teasing and kind. She always made me feel special. I’m so sorry for your loss. She was a kind, loving, and special woman.

We were shocked to hear of Caroline’s passing! We just always loved her bubbly and upbeat personality and she did hesitate to show love to all. She always got a kick out of Terry and him saying “pot licker! She said her dad always said it and she hadn’t heard anyone say it until Terry came along. She would message me on Facebook and always asked how “potlicker” was. It always cracked me up and him too. She will be greatly missed but she is in heaven with mom and dad now. Maybe they can play cards. Lol. Love to all of you!
