Welcome to Smith Miner

Carolyn McCann, 83, of Midland, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 13, 2020.  She was born on November 20, 1936 to the late Walter and Jewel (Robinson) Robertson.  Carolyn married Larry McCann on October 19, 1956.  He predeceased her on December 28, 2017.

Carolyn worked in management at McKay Press for many years.  She enjoyed quilting and sewing, and often gave the quilts she made to family and friends, as well as the residents at local assisted living homes.  Carolyn loved the outdoors where she was an avid fisherman and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and animals.  She was also an avid member of Mid-Michee Bowman Club where she and Larry spent many hours shooting their bows.

She is survived by her brother Rob Robertson and special friend Donna Concialdi, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends who all loved her dearly, her faithful little Yorkie, Lucy.  A special thank you to her caregiver Tracey, who cared for both Carolyn and Larry for many years.

As per Carolyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael T. Sawicki officiating.  Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 12:30 pm until the time of service at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Midland County Humane Society, Mary Freebed in Grand Rapids or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Smith-Miner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the McCann family; to share a special memory please visit www.smithminer.com.
