Cecil J. DuFort, 93, of Midland, died on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Cecil was born in Saginaw on Oct. 1, 1916 to the late Luttie (Simmons) and Jerome E. DuFort. His family moved to Midland in 1927 and Cecil graduated from Midland High School in 1936. Then on Jan. 13, 1939 he married his sweetheart Harriet Glasgow. Cecil worked for Dow Chemical in Midland for 40 years retiring as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Auburn Council No. 3590. Cecil was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. Cecil is survived by his wife of 71 wonderful years, Harriet; sons, Laurence (Sharon) of Midland, Joseph (Marilyn) of Midland; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, June Beyorsdorf of Midland and sister-in-law, Rose DuFort of Midland. Cecil was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary (Babe) Brownlee and brother, Ward DuFort . A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 19 at St. Bridid’s Catholic Church, with Father Jose Parra and Deacon Al Oliver officiating. A burial will follow at the Homer Township Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Sunday, July 18, from 4 to 7 pm, at which time there will be a Vigil Service, and at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
