Celia Rose Hollowell, 86, of Sanford, passed away on January 27, 2017 at her home. She was born on July 26, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Phillip and Martha (Glover) Beatty. She married the late Gerald “Jerry” Hollowell on September 2, 1951 in Kalamazoo, MI. Gerald predeceased her on April 4, 2004. Celia was a teacher in the public school system. She was involved with the Adult Literacy Council and a previous member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Kalamazoo, MI where she taught and played the piano and organ. She owned and operated the Needle Craft Shop from 1974-1978 in Midland. She enjoyed needle point and putting together puzzles.Celia is survived by her children; Dan Hollowell, Karen Hollowell, Susan Hollowell and Tom Hollowell, grandchildren; Nick, Randy, Mandella, Carinne, Kristen, Jeremy and a special caregiver and handyman, Marc Letts. Celia was predeceased by her brother, Robert Beatty.A Funeral Service will take place at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Lisa Cook of the Sanford United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service.
