(June 9, 1928 – February 27, 2016)

Charlotte Helen Westphal went to her heavenly home on February 27, 2016. She was born on June 9, 1928 in Larkin Township to Lila (Lubs) and Arnold Schalk and resided there all her life.She married the love of her life, Frederick H. Westphal, on June 17, 1950. Fred predeceased her on November 3, 1979. They had three children, a son Fred, (who predeceased her on August 7, 2015) and daughters Susan and Sandra.Charlotte enjoyed the simple things in life like bird watching, reading, playing cards, Detroit Tiger?ÇÖs baseball and especially time spent with family and friends. She dearly loved visits from her grandchildren. She had the curiosity of a cat, always questioning and wondering why.After her husband passed she went back to school and obtained her GED and high school diploma and received a scholarship to Delta College. After being a homemaker most of her life she went to work part time at The Old Hickory House restaurant and volunteered at the Economy Center in Bay City.Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Susan Westphal and Sandra Westphal, daughter in law Connie Westphal, three grandchildren; Chris Westphal, Tanya Westphal and Nick Westphal and one great grandson, Jacob Orvis. She is also survived by a very special sister in law, Meta Hyatt, sisters and brothers in law, Irene Westphal, Douglas Strachan, Earl and Peggy Westphal, Herb and Ruth Westphal and Emma Tiede, a special nephew, Dennis Hyatt, many nieces and nephews, cousins, Leo Wontorcik, Charlie and Judy Lubs, Bob and Janet Lubs and a wonderful friend, Joanne Wallace.Charlotte was predeceased by one brother, many brothers in law and sisters in law and two nephews.Special thanks to Sarah Crawford NPA, Dr. Daniel Lee and MidMichigan Hospice for the excellent care during her life.Charlotte was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church-Beaver Township and Funeral Services will held there on Tuesday, March 1, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Seth Hemme officiating.
