Daniel Kent Foster, 62, of Midland, died on Sunday, Aug. 6, at Cascades Senior Living Center, in Midland. Dan was born on December 23, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Reverend Robert Lee Foster and the late Dorothy Welhoelter. Dan married his sweetheart, Barbara Sabourin, on September 17, 1983. Dan was a member of the United Church of Christ, and worked at Dow Corning as a Chemical Engineer. Because of his love of nature and the environment, and his membership in The Sierra Club and the World Wildlife Federation, Barbara often referred to Dan as “Mr. Green Jeans.” Dan also loved sailing, golfing, running, and was an avid cyclist. Dan is survived by Babara, his loving wife of 29 years; his children: Koryn (Jason) VanIttersum, Joshua (Kelly) Foster, Michael Foster, and Tyler Foster; as well as his grandchildren: Anna, Sophie, Ethan, and Alex; and brothers: Mark, Bob, and Joel. Dan was predeceased by his brother, John. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 4100 Chestnut Hill, on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 11:00 am with Pastors Roger Pancost and Rev. Dr. Carl Gillett officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 4 until 7 pm.
