Welcome to Smith Miner

David B. Cerva, 77, of Midland walked into the arms of Jesus on January 15, 2021. He was born on June 7, 1943 to the late Bernard and Arloa (Sterling) Cerva. On July 11, 1964 he married Jan Riches and they spent many wonderful years together.

Dave enjoyed taking care of his house and lawn, but most of all he loved serving others. His biggest love in life was his grandchildren and nothing brought him more joy than watching them play baseball and dance. Whether living in Phoenix or in Midland, Dave enjoyed weekly breakfasts with best friends Wayne and Dale. He was involved in his Christian faith and served as a volunteer with the youth group and individuals with special needs.

David is survived by his wife, Jan, children Terri Cerva, Paul (Kathleen) Cerva, Lorri Bucholz, and grandchildren, Jackson, Grace and Gage Bucholz and Kacy Cerva. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Jeff Bucholz, and sisters, Charlene Love and Kaye Lamphere.

In accordance with Dave’s wishes no service will be held at this time. Burial will take place in Jerome Township Cemetery in the summer.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Midland Humane Society.

Smith-Miner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Cerva family; to share a special memory please visit www.smithminer.com.
