David T. LaFave, 71, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born on October 7, 1946 to the late Roy and Ruth (Clark) LaFave. In 1973 he married Margaret “Peggy” Blumenthal.

Dave worked for the Bay City Public Schools as a mechanic before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating on the pontoon with a grandchild on his lap. He loved watching Meridian Mustangs Basketball, watching his sons run, coaching his boys in baseball and following his grandkids activities. Dave adored his family and beloved dogs Marley and Quincy.

Dave is survived by his wife, Peggy, children, Jason LaFave, Matt (Mary Beth) LaFave, Andy (Ashley) LaFave, his “fourth son”, Jed Hughes, grandchildren, Brayden, Drew, Ethan, Lily, Jonah and Owen. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joan (David) Schwartz, Sue (David) Kobylarek, Barb (Jerry) Wujczyk and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Grabill officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4-7pm and on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.
