David Willis Howard, a loving father, husband, brother, grandpa, great grandpa & friend, passed away at the age of 73, on May 2, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Hospital. He was born May 1, 1948 in Midland, Michigan. He was the son of the late Willis and Vera Howard, of Beaverton. David graduated from the Meridian High School in 1966. After high school, David started working for the City of Midland as a custodian at the library. Then he joined the US Army on March 5th 1968 and served for 4 years. After his service to our country he returned to the City of Midland where he worked in the DPW department, then eventually moved over to the Ice Arena (Parks and Recreation) and retired after 34 years with the City.

David was an avid hunter, loved the outdoors, & driving his grandchildren around on his tractors. David always was there to help a friend in need. He loved gardening, tinkering on old engines, fixing things up, and always had a kind hand to little animals.

He is survived by his wife, Debra of Midland; Brother Arnold Howard of Lakeland FL; Sisters, Prudence Garner (Doug) of Beaverton and Judi Marsh (John) of Midland.

Daughters, Amy Howard (Shawn Bailey) of Georgia and Chaesa Reinke (Randy) of Midland; Grandchildren, Jazlynn Howard of Georgia, Dakota Bailey (Sydney) of Harrison twp. & Elliot Reinke of Midland.

Military Memorial services for David will take place at the Sanford American Legion on Saturday May 22nd From 11:00-2:00pm.

    Amy and Chaesa, so sorry to hear about your dad passing. I worked with him at the Civic Arena. He was a hard worker and was great to work with. He talked about you both with such Love. He will be missed by many.

    Debra, Marv and I am incredibly sorry for the loss of Dave, He was such a kind and caring guy, he had that smile that lit up a room and was honest about everything lol, Marv developed quite the bond in their trips to the cabin. Day drinking and tinkering was their favorite. Marv and I will miss him and his spunkiness. Sending love Debra please let us know if there is anything we can do.
