Welcome to Smith Miner

Debra Ann Carpenter, 62, lost her battle with cancer on September 29, 2020 in Detroit, Michigan. She was born on December 4, 1957 to Robert and Mary Jane (Austin) Miner.


Debra served as a floral designer for the majority of her life. She loved flowers, tie-dye, traveling to the U.P., and fall colors. Debra was always full of light and life and willing to lend a helping hand. Most importantly, she loved and cherished her family and extended family.


Debra is survived in death by her life partner, Tom Pickens; her son, Tommy Carpenter; her grandson, Cody Rowland; a sister, Patty Miner; and niece, Nichole Miner. She is also survived by her faithful friend and companion, her dog Shotzee.


Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Those who would like to express sympathy are asked to consider the family in her name.

    Debbie was such a positive and kind person. Always took the time to make a “special” arrangement, baked goods, or anything to lift one’s spirit. We’ll miss her. Condolences to Tom and family.
