Denise Ann Dehn, from Midland, died of Lung Cancer on June 19, 2017. She was born July 7, 1957 in Midland to William and Racheal Ann (Winslow) Dehn. She was raised in Midland and graduated from Dow High. Denise married her best friend Jim HD Stull in 1980, they were both Journeyman Pipe Fitters out of Local 591 in Pasco, WA. After leaving WA, Denise was able to travel the USA in her Custom 40’ 5th Wheel “Chasing the almighty dollar, while working shut downs”. When she returned back to Michigan she joined local 154 Pipe Fitters, in Northeast MI, where she had a blast welding all but the “Crack of Dawn” and a “Broken heart”. She decided to go to school and earn her Associates degree in Welding Technology from Delta and her Bachelors of Science in Welding Engineering Technology from Ferris State. She was awarded the Trail Blazer Award for being the first Female to earn a Welding Engineering Degrees at both Delta and Ferris. She went on to become a Senior Project manager/Welding Engineer at GM in Warren. Her job took her around the world on numerous projects and programs.
Denise belonged to the Great Lakes SEM R/C Family, Secord Lake Eagles in Gladwin, Midland Eagles, Midland Eagle Riders, Tri-County HOG Chapter and the American Welding Society. She didn’t have any children but loved and spoiled her Old English Sheepdog, Misty Bo Peep, given to her by the late Jerry Woolever.
She is survived by her mom, Racheal Ann Dehn, sister, Diane (George Skalnican) VanMeter, step children, Robbie Stull, Jimmie Dean Stull and Jamie Sue Locke, nephews, Kevin VanMeter, Troy (Erica) Toombs and their daughters, Temperance Riley and Taliesyn Gray Toombs.
She was predeceased in death by her best friends: her dad, Bill Dehn, grandma, Rachael Winslow, Jim Stull and good friend John Reder.
Care givers Amanda Rippee and Apryl Merithew provided healthcare for Denise and her mom for the last two years. They’ve been adopted in as family members.
Denise’s favorite past time was riding her Ultra Classic Harley around the USA with hopes of traveling through all 50 states in pursuit of her Prince Charming. She also loved playing in the dirt in her flower gardens, doing crafts, cooking and going up North to see her family and friends. In the past few years she has been her mother’s caregiver and Cat Whisperer to Princess Jake and Dixie Doodle.
Funeral Services will take place at Smith-Miner Funeral home on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 10:00 am with Pastor Wallace Mayton III officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 22nd from 5-8 pm and on Friday morning at the funeral home until the time of service. A special Club Walk Thru and Honor Guard will be performed at 7:30 pm.
Denise will be escorted to the cemetery by the roar of Harley’s from The Great Lakes Southeast MI Riding Club , The Eagles’s Riding Club, family and friends. She will be buried next to her Dad in the Midland Cemetery. Be sure to visit Denise at the Cemetery where she is having a special memorial setting for all to enjoy.
In Lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Denise’s favorite Charities, the Midland Humane Society and Dogs for Vets.
