(December 31, 1951 – January 9, 2013)

Denise Marie “Sis” Chambers-Fox, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 31, 1951 in Midland to Earl Chambers Jr. and the late Dorothy (Betty) Myers-Chambers. On March 25, 2002 she married Norman J. Fox in Bolivar, Missouri. Sis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired after 20 years from Pinconning Area Schools. She began her dream job in 2001 as Chief Steward working on Great Lakes Freighters, where she won over the hearts of many with her cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and baking. Sis was an avid animal lover, and a longtime member of 4H showing cattle and horses, she loved fair week. She enjoyed garage sales and thrift stores, also going to the casinos. Sis was the caretaker to many putting everyone before herself. She would never pass up a donation jar without contributing even if it meant going without. Sis was a member for many years to the American Legion, Post 104 in Standish, MI. Sis is survived by her husband, Norman J. Fox Sr.; children, Travis (Debbie) Latoski of Rhodes, MI, Megan (Robert) Hall of Hope, MI, Jacob Fath of Upper Peninsula, MI.; grandchildren, Renee and Amber Metzger, Joslyn Latoski, Joshua Benchley, Cole Hall; step-children, Joseph (Debbie) Fox of Grand Rapids, OH., W. Sue Hymore of Union, KY, along with 9 step-grandchildren; brothers Jim Chambers of Midland, Jon (Terri) Chambers of Midland; sister Gwen (Duane) Stanford also several nieces and nephews. Sis was predeceased by her step-son Norman J. Fox Jr. and her brother Michael Chambers Sr. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, 4762 Rhodes Rd., Rhodes, MI 48652 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Reed Schroer officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
