Donald L. “Pete” Bacon, 79, of Edenville Township, passed away on Nov. 17, 2010 at the Toni & Trish House in Auburn. Pete was born at home on March 12, 1931, in Edenville, to the late John H. and Adele M. (Boes) Bacon. He lived most of his life in the Edenville area where he also attended school. Pete proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Pete drove trucks for 4-D Builders until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Sanford American Legion Post Number 433. He loved to play euchre. Pete was a charter member of the Edenville Fire Department. Surviving Pete are one daughter, Barbara L. Bacon, of Hawaii; two brothers and four sisters, Allan (Bobbie) Bacon, Richard “Dick” (Carolyn) Bacon, D. Jean Dunham, Lois Gatton, Barbara Huebner and Linda (Joe) Keene. Also surviving are 2 sisters-in-law, Connie Bacon of Kailua, HI, Pam Bacon of Florida, and he was the favorite Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Mary Catherine Bacon and three brothers, John Bacon of Sanford, Robert Bacon of Edenville and Leland “Lee” Bacon of Hawaii. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Emerson Dunham, Rex Gatton and Fred Huebner. As per Pete’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be in the New Edenville Cemetery. Those wishing to express their sympathy may consider the Edenville Fire Truck Fund or a charity of their choice.
