Our beloved sister Dorothy M. Florance, 91, of Midland died at home on Monday, March 1, 2010. Dorothy was born on Jan. 7, 1919, in Bay City, to the late Emma (Huntley) and James Florance. Dorothy served honorably with the U.S. Navy Waves during WW II. She retired from Dow Chemical in 1978. Dorothy was an avid world traveler. She was a member of the Midland Artist Guild, Midland Water Color Group, Sweet Adelines, and Kings Daughters and Sons. She volunteered at Memorial Presbyterian Church. Dorothy is survived by her sister Eunice Everson of Midland, Jack (Charlote) Cox of Sherrills Ford, NC and many nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister E. Marie Florance and her brothers Robert and Michael Cox. A Funeral Service will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 5 at 11:00 am, with Reverend Wallace Mayton III officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Thursday March 4 from 4 til 7 and at the church on Friday from 10:00 until the time of the service.
