Welcome to Smith Miner

Edith M. Miner, 97, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Stratford Pines. She was born in Huron County on August 25, 1920 to the late Egbert and Vera (Kennedy) Hall. On May 4, 1941 she married Gerald J. Miner and they had 75 wonderful years together before he predeceased her on June 25, 2016.

Edith started working as an office manager in the funeral business at Bradley Funeral Home on July 1, 1946. In 1952, along with her husband Gerald, they purchased the Reigle Funeral Home in Gladwin. In 1971 they purchased Bradley’s Funeral Home which became Miner Bradley Funeral Home. Edith continued serving families of the Midland Area until her retirement from Smith-Miner Funeral Home in February 2008.

Edith has been a member of Midland Nazarene Church since 1940. She was a former member of the ZONTA, A.B.W.A. and member of the Midland Country Club.

Edith is survived by her children, Tearle (Gail) Miner, Cynthia (Dave) Licht, daughter-in-law Emogene Miner, grandchildren, Paul (Antonella) Miner, Alan (Jennifer) Miner, Michael (Lida) Miner, Michelle Cummings, Metricia (Mark) Pierce, James (Leslie) Licht, Lindsey (Tyler) Losinski, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Ardith Wooster and sister-in-law Loralee Hall.

Edith was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, son Melvin and 7 brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Smith Miner Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Ferguson officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4-7 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Midland City Cemetery on Monday.
