Edwin R. North, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at MidMichigan Medical Center. Ed was born October 23, 1923 to Clayton and Martha (Taylor) North in Brown City, Michigan. He married Helen Amaryllis on September 1, 1951. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for Dow Chemical from 1950 as an Analytical Scientist until he retired in 1985. Ed was part of the Governor’s Defense Force from 2002 until 2008. Ed enjoyed stamp collecting as a hobby and loved to go out visiting his friends. Ed is survived by his wife Helen, sons Stephen and David (Jennifer) North and grandchildren Matthew and Michael. He is also survived by his sister Irene Bosca and step-brother Ralph Taylor. Ed was predeceased by his parents, his brother Carl, his sister Carol, and step brothers Herman and Bill. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Dan Dickerson officiating. Visitation for Edward will be Monday at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service. Military honors will take place at Calvary Baptist Church under the auspices of Midland County Veterans and the U.S. Navy. Burial will take place at Midland City Cemetery.
