Elmer L. Meden, 89, of Midland, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. He was born in Rogers City, Michigan on May 9, 1927 to the late Louis and Lilly (Ristow) Meden. On November 7, 1953 he married Margie Mae Buchner in Lincoln, Michigan.Elmer served in the Korean War for two years. He also sailed the Great Lakes as a wheelsman for Pittsburgh Steamship Company. He was employed by McKay Press and also by Dow Corning Corporation. Elmer loved the outdoors. He spent many happy hours at his camp in Rogers City. He loved hunting and working with trees and planted many of them on his property. Elmer is survived by his sons, David (Noreen) Meden of York, PA and Paul of Phoenix, AZ one brother, Norval (Darleen) Meden, sister-in law Marlene, as well as many nieces and nephews.Elmer was predeceased by his wife Margie, and brother Ervin.A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gerald Ferguson officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 3 p.m.at the church until time of service. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Trinity Lutheran Church or The Chippewa Nature Center.On Line condolences can be left at smithminer.com
