Cathy and family, so sorry for your loss. I had the great privilege of knowing Gene from LaPorte and working in the same building at Dow. BUT the most important he played at our wedding 34 years old. Prayers and hugs Cathy and thank God for the wonderful 10 years you had with Gene. He will be dearly missed.

Gene also played in the band “Norm & His Polka Pals” in which my dad was also in. a few years ago I had the privilege to do a show at Hopevale with him and His brother Ken Smith. Very wonderful and talented gentlemen. I last sang with him this summer at Barton Woods assisted living in Freeland, MI. He would stop by after visiting his sister and lend wonderful harmonies to songs. Rest In Peace my friend.

So sorry for your loss. May God be with you in this time of need. I loved listening to Gene in his many bands when he would come to the Trailside Senior Center. I am sure he is playing his music in Heaven.
