Gale E. Dodge, 74, of Midland, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born in Caro, MI on May 7, 1942 to the late Edwin G. and Maleta M. (Hanes) Dodge. On August 22, 1964 he married Rebecca Weckle.Gale served his country honorably in the United States Army as an Army Medic (Corpsman) 1st Air Cavalary during the Vietnam War. He worked for Dow Corning as an operator retiring in 2001. More recently Gale was a chaplain for the American Legion Berryhill Post 165 in Midland. He was a member of the Midland County Honor Guard. Gale also served in several positions in area churches including deacon, bible teacher, song leader, choir and orchestra leader. Gale is survived by his wife, Rebecca, children, Kelly Elizabeth Dodge, and Debra Lynne (Joshua) LaFave, his brother, Gary (Joan) Dodge, sister in law, Ruth Averhill, brother-in-law Ray Averhill and several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m on Thursday, August 11th at Open Door Baptist Church with Pastor Jody Ellis officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Open Door Baptist Church or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
