Garold Edward Dice, 95, of Midland, passed away on April 3, 2013 at the Toni & Trish House. Garold was born on Nov. 1, 1917, the son of Fred and Clara (Harshman) Dice in Midland. He was honored to serve his country during WWII from April 1941 to October 1945 as a Staff Sergeant under General Patton’s Third Army. On October 30, 1942, he married the love of his life, Eleanor Gay and after his return from the Army began to build their residence in Midland and start their family. Garold worked at Dow Chemical Company in Midland for 40 years, retiring in 1979. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, outdoor activities, boating and automobiles. He was the proud father of five children, Garlene (Ronald) Glanz of Midland, Marla (John) Johnson of Midland, Lana (Scott) Maxwell of Edenville, Douglas (Judy) Dice of St. Louis, Tad (Gayle) Dice of Elmira. He has 12 wonderful grandchildren, 20 beautiful great grandchildren and is also survived by his brother Robert of Pentwater, MI. Garold was preceded in death by his parents and his 2 brothers Eugene and Kenneth and grandson Korin Dice. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2013 atHomer United Methodist Church in Midland, with Pastor Dave Mulder officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly on Sunday, April 7 from 4 until 6 pm and on Monday at the church from 9 am until the time of the service.
