George H. Green, 91, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Sterling House of Midland. He was born October 16, 1923 in Midland, MI to the late Daniel and Hazel (Sorg) Green. On December 7, 1945 he married Gertrude Mudd who predeceased him on November 29, 1996. George was a decorated United States Army Veteran of WWII serving with the Second armored division. He was taken as a Prisoner of War. George was a private first class and received the Purple Heart for his actions. George worked for Dow Chemical for 43 years retiring in 1982. He was also the co-owner with his wife of Green?ÇÖs Grocery. George was a volunteer fireman for Homer and Mills Township. He was an avid reader and loved to read anything he could get his hands on. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, fixing and building things, and helping his neighbors. George is survived by his children, Geraldene (James) Hacker, Dennis Green, Walter (Mary) Green and Bruce Green. He is also survived by his brother Robert Green, Uncle Charles (Kay) Sorg, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.George predeceased by his sister Matilda Stillmacher.A Funeral Service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Wayne Shidler, Heartland Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Visitation will held from Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4:30 -7 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
