Gerald “Jerry” Louis Church, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born on October 14, 1936 to the late Orie and Velma (Tripp) Church.
Gerald started his career working with Giant Supermarket and went on to work at Scientific Anglers as a mechanical engineer retiring after 38 years of service. He enjoyed teaching everyone how to fish. Gerald, our father, the Angler, enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed family reunions, gospel concerts, Crosley cars, car shows, antique festivals and all sports with his grandchildren.
Gerald was a family man with strong faith, a mentor, a very kind and soft spoken man, yet firm in his beliefs, he was full of wisdom, and he loved adventure and travel, he saw the beauty of God’s handiwork in everything. His hugs are irreplaceable, as they were full of love. He was a Godly man; he loved our Lord and Savior.
Gerald leaves behind his beloved wife, Jeannie, children, Steven (Rebecca) Church, Kevin (Tamara) Church and Jerilyn (Church) and Richard Smith, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, step children, Vic & Phyllis Adams, Beth Miral & Kevin Chudler, David & Mary Miral and Lance Miral, 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Vivian Melton.
Gerald was predeceased by his first wife Florence and his second wife Marilyn, siblings, Orie and Shirley, brother-in-law Clark Poole.
A Funeral Service will take place at Eagle Ridge Church of God on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lowell Gisel officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 11th from 4-7 pm at Smith-Miner Funeral Home and on Friday at the church from10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Midland Memorial Gardens.
