Welcome to Smith Miner

Harriet J. (Warren) Brady, 96, born May 5, 1924 to Rose (Wirtz) and Percy Warren, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2021, surrounded by her children, at King’s Daughters Home. She was a member of the 1943 Midland High School graduation class.  She married Gene Brady on August 23, 1947.  He predeceased her on April 18, 2007.  Their 59 years together taught us all “true, unconditional love” – especially “thru sickness and in health”.

Her family was her world.  If you needed a favor, you only had to ask once.  She lived her life with the “Warren Determination” (sometimes fondly referred to as stubbornness), a perfect blend of strength and gentleness.

She was known as “Queenie” to a small circle of family and friends, due to never filling up her car herself.  She loved cooking and trying new recipes.  Whether it was sloppy joes or Beef Wellington, it was always scrumptious, but don’t ask her to bake a pie.  Her corned beef and cabbage and Irish Stew were St. Patrick’s Day staples and enjoyed by many.  She enjoyed cruising the Great Lakes aboard the Irish.  Whether sitting on the aft deck and later on the dock at the cabin, you’d often find her with a fishing pole in hand.  She never cared if she caught anything, she just loved to feel them nibble.

When her kids were in school, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Brigid’s, as room mother for many classes and at the hot dog sale.

Harriet is survived by her children, Cyndy (Bob) Wohlfeil of Grand Rapids, Dave (Joy) Brady of Taylor and Kimm (Steve) Fortier of Midland.  Her son, Bill, predeceased her on December 23, 1994.  She leaves behind her grandchildren, Rob (Heather) Allen, Tami (Tim) Irwin, Jennifer Wohlfeil (Tim Denhof), Tim Clement, Chad (Meg) Clement and Matt Brady; her great grandchildren, Brady Allen, Thomas and Megan Irwin, Caroline Wohlfeil, Olivia and Bob McGee, Cami and Bryce Clement, and Esme Brady.  She also leaves her dear sister, Margaret Williams, and brother Larry (Pat) Warren, along with over 100 nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Helen (Ken) Nold, Tom (Alice) Warren, Dick (Jo) Warren, Jack Warren, Flo (Al) Roth, Jim (Marlene) Warren, Danny Warren and Dennis Warren.  She is survived by her in-laws “Jack’s Pat” Warren, Pat Brady, Ginny (Larry) LaBelle, Tom Brady, Annie Clarey and Dean Carlson.

Of special importance is Mom’s “family” at Midland King’s Daughters Home, for their extraordinary care, especially this past year.  They went over and above, time after time.  There truly are no words for their care, compassion, love, laughter and humor.  We will be forever grateful.

Momma, you did it… you left this world still wearing cute shoes! We’ll always love you more!

Harriet’s family will receive friends, to celebrate her life, on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Midland King’s Daughters Home, 2410 Rodd Street, Midland, MI 48640.
