Helen E. Carter, 80, of Midland, passed away on March 22, 2015 at home. Helen was born on November 8, 1934, to Carlisle and Ella Mae (Gray) Muir. She graduated from Beaverton High School and worked for some time at Midland Hospital. She married Norman L. Carter on August 11, 1956. Helen was involved in many youth activities including being a den mother, brownie troupe leader, International Order of DeMolay Mother?ÇÖs Club President and Guardian for Bethel #29 of the International Order of Job?ÇÖs Daughters. She was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star having taken several offices as well as Worthy Matron 5 times and had the honor of being Grand Warder in 2003-2004. She was member of Bay #219 OES. Helen and Norm Volunteered at Masonic Pathways and she worked at the pathways boutique. In her spare time she truly enjoyed doing ceramics, baking cinnamon rolls and pasties for the Eastern Star, reading novels and doing jigsaw puzzles.Helen is survived by her husband Norman, children; Denise (Raymond) Abbey, Jeffrey (Carri) Carter, and Bina (Bryan) Carter-Gillett, 5 grandchildren; Kori Carter, Daniel (Carlene) Abbey, Jennifer (Paris) Parlier, Travis (Brittany) Carter and Samuel Satkowiak, and 4 great grandchildren; Aiden, Clayton, Gracie and Xavier. She is also survived by her sisters Myrtle Doehring and Loretta (Ronald) Vanbocxlear, and brothers Lyle Lindy Muir and Dale (Sheril) Muir, along with several nieces and nephew.A Funeral Service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Rev. George H. Ayoub officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
