Helen Louise (Suderman) Davis, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 30, 2014. She was born on February 21, 1932 in Midland, the daughter of the late John and Rachel Suderman. The former Helen Louise Suderman married Lewis Davis on November 23, 1956 and they recently celebrated 57 years of marriage.Mom loved children and would always be found seeking out children to love and hug. She loved children so much that after having her own children, she took on the role of foster parent. Mom and Dad opened their home many times to fulfill the temporary parenting role.She loved shopping, garage sales, sewing and quilt making. For many years she was an active member of the Ladies Sewing Circle at her home church, The Midland Mennonite Church. As part of this group, she made countless numbers of quilts that were given to charities and missions. Mom raised nine children: Lewis (Kris) Davis, Melody (Michael) DeBolt, Wendy (Jim) Holcomb, Warren (Lisa) Davis, Grace (Dennis) Phillips, Dan Davis, Ivan Davis, Melissa (Jerry) Campbell and Kevin Davis. She also has thirteen grandchildren: Rod DeBolt, Brooke DeBolt, Brandon Holcomb, Jamie Swartz, Nathan Davis, Brittany Davis, Isaac Phillips, Hezekiah Phillips, Magdalena Phillips, Amos Phillips, Zephaniah Phillips, Joshua Campbell and Austin Campbell; Seven Great-grand- children: Lily, Anna, Emma, Caleb, Parker, Corbin and Jeremiah. She is also survived by her sisters Anna Butterfield and Ella Weber and her brother John Suderman. Helen was predeceased by her sisters Marilyn Adams-Church and Orlou Lynburner.A celebration service will be held at New Hope Community Church (formerly The Midland Mennonite Church) , 2510 E. Stewart Rd in Midland, on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 @ 11:00am with Pastor Dennis Heath and Reverend Warren Davis officiating. Helen?ÇÖs family will receive friends on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home from 4 until 7 pm and at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service. Helen?ÇÖs family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care during Mom?ÇÖs final days.
