Irene enjoyed traveling with her husband around the country. After Gene passed away, Irene continued to travel, visiting places including China, Europe and the Middle East.In Milford, Irene helped form a widows?ÇÖ group, participated in the Milford seniors?ÇÖ organization, and was a very active, long-standing volunteer at St. Mary?ÇÖs Church?Çöeven becoming a ?Çÿsubstitute grandmother?ÇÖ for a Laotian family. In 1994 Irene moved to Riverside Place in Midland. She planted peonies at her new home, and enjoyed her many friends, shopping at the farmers?ÇÖ market, and walking along the river. Irene was a member of the Quilters Club and St. Brigid Church. When Irene moved to King?ÇÖs Daughters Home in 2008, she was surrounded by a loving, caring staff who nurtured her with kindness and compassion. New Year?ÇÖs 2012 was one of Irene?ÇÖs last celebrations.
