Jack A. Rogers, 83, died on July 26, 2009 at MidMichigan Stratford Village. Jack A. Rogers, son of Joseph Edward Rogers and Helen (Stoops) was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on November 25, 1923. He Graduated from State High in Kalamazoo and attended Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan before entering the Naval Air Corps. He married Betty M. Rogers on December 29, 1945. He was a life member of Michigan Audubon, member of Wildlife Recovery, Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 72, he received numerous commendations for Scouting and his family was Scouting Family of the year. He retired from the electro-chemical lab at Dow Chemical in 1980. He is survived by his wife Betty M. and three sons, Jack (Kathy) Rogers, Joe (Barbara) Rogers and Jeff (Sherry) Rogers and four grandchildren, Jeremy (Kara) Rogers, Matt Rogers, Brianne Rogers and Joanna Rogers. He is also survived by his sister Carol (Ward) Vandenberg and one sister-in-law Dorothy Rogers both of Kalamazoo. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother Robert Rogers. A Memorial Service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 29, at 10:30 am with Mr. Fel Brunett to facilitate. Burial will take place at the Poseyville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Wildlife Recovery or the Chippewa Nature Center.
