James M. Letts, 73, of Midland, passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 3, 2018. He was born on August 25, 1945 to the late James and Elenorjean (Davis) Letts. On August 17, 1968 he married Donna Jean Carey and they had 50 wonderful years together.

James was employed at Shorty’s Wrecker and was part owner of Midland Towing. He retired from the Midland County Fair working in maintenance.  James enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and many years with 4-H.

James is survived by his wife, Donna, children, James Donald (JD), Dana, Paul Newman, grandchildren; Kyle, Dylan (Shana), Amber, Dana, Kimberly, Brent, Zachary Newman and Amanda and Nic Hemling, and great grandkids, Nico Hemling, Loretta and Noah Newman. He is also survived by 3 sisters, 5 brothers, and 1 brother in law.

James was predeceased by his parents, James and Elenorjean Letts, in-laws, Donald Carey and Shirley Davis and sister Betty Reid.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Community Church on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Don Duford officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 10 am until the time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider MidMichigan Hospice or Midland County 4-H Council.

    Donna, you and Jim have been such a large part of my family’s life. As neighbors, 4-H Leaders and most of all friends. Jim will be missed. And we will always be there for you, my friend.

    Donna, Fair will not be the same. I remember Jim from when i was in 4-H. Yes Jim could be a little bugger but he had a big heart. He will be missed by alot of us. Our Prayers are with you and the family. Dave & Rose Fike

    Ernie and I will truly miss him. Our camp sight at the shows when we are at the fairgrounds won’t be the some. We always looked forward to seeing both of you. Our thoughts are with you Donna and your family!
