Smith-Miner Funeral HomeOBITUARY w/PIC For Sunday, January 26th Edition JAMES P. FITZGIBBON James P. Fitzgibbon, 93, of Midland died on January 23, 2014, at his home. Jim was born on September 1, 1920, in Midland, Michigan, to the late John and Vera (Hinds) Fitzgibbon. Jim was married to Joan McHenry on June 18, 1947 who preceded him in death on January 12, 2002. Jim served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of the St. Brigids of Kildare Church where was involved in the jail ministry, movies at Pinecrest and the Parish Council and Committees. James enjoyed fishing, gardening and mostly his family. Jim is survived by his daughters, Mary (Bob) Seifert, Kate Fitzgibbon, Pat (Walt) Hechlik and Alice Fitzgibbon; his sons, Dr. James (Nelda) Fitzgibbon , Jess (Therese) Fitzgibbon, Dennis (Cindy) Fitzgibbon, Stephen Fitzgibbon, Mark (Deb) Fitzgibbon, and Mike (Colleen) Fitzgibbon, daughter-in-law Denise Fitzgibbon, 23 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his brother William (Alma) Fitzgibbon . Jim was predeceased by his sons, Bryan, Francis and Bob Fitzgibbon, brother and sister-in-law Carney (Audry) Fitzgibbon. A funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Brigids of Kildare Church with Father Patrick O’Connor and Father James Bessert officiating. His family will receive friends at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 4 to7pm and at the church at 10am until the time of service. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. A private Graveside service will take place at the Old Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be held under the auspices The United States Army.
