Jennie R. Asch, a Midland resident for 65 years, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 in Cincinnati, OH where she has lived since April 2001. She was born in Elkton, MI, Jan. 20, 1916, the daughter of Allan Roy and Sarah (Miller) Stauffer and moved to Midland in 1935 where she met William Asch and married in Jan. 1936. Jennie was a member of the Community of Christ Church and was very active in the Church Women?ÇÖs Groups. She was a member of Eastern Stars for 50+ years and operated her own hair designer business for 25 years in addition to working with her husband in their grocery store on Ashman Street. Jennie enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors, china painting and working in her flower garden. Surviving her are two daughters; Myrna L. Asch, St. Clair Shores, MI and Ellen L. Shertzer and son-in-law Howard Shertzer, Cincinnati, OH; two grandsons, Kyle Shertzer of Morehead City, NC and Kevin Shertzer of Santa Barbara, CA; two great-granddaughters, Clara and Eliza Shertzer of Morehead City, NC.She was preceded in death by her husband, William Asch (May 1989), her parents, three brothers; Ivan, Kenneth and Allan, and two sisters, Gertrude L.
