John H. GilmourJohn H. Gilmour, 100, of Midland, passed away on June 8, 2015 at home. John was born on February 19, 1915 to John R. and Emily (English) Gilmour. On August 13, 1949 he married Doris Ranes.John was a member of the Civilian Conservation Core where he planted over a thousand trees a day. He was in the United States Army during WWII serving as a staff sergeant under Patton?ÇÖs Third Army. After the war John worked as union electrician for Briley Electric. John was an avid reader and enjoyed boating. He loved to going to Big Boy, traveling and camping. John is survived by his wife, Doris, daughter, Sharon (Jim) McDonald, grandchildren; Scott (Maria) McDonald and Amy (Jay) Hollon, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.John was predeceased by his parents, his sister Florence Gilmour and step sister Grace (Chester) Wright.A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Pastor Scott Palmiter of the Free Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 4-6 pm and on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.
