John R. Foster, 73, died on Sept. 14, 2009 at his home with his family at his side. John was born in Midland on Dec. 8, 1935 to the late Eugene and Emily (O?ÇÖDell) Foster. On July 23, 1955 he married his sweetheart Beverly Johnson in Midland. John worked for Dow Chemical as a Master Plumber and Supervisor for many years, retiring on Jan. 30, 1986. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved woodworking and traveling to the U.P. and he was a great baseball player a sport that he loved. John especially loved spending time with his family who will miss him greatly. John is survived by his loving wife Beverly; mother Emily Foster of Midland; daughter Lori (Rev. Terry) Woirol of Wis.; sons Larry Foster of Midland, Rick (Beth) Foster of Midland, Darryl (Sue) Foster of Midland; grandchildren, Josiah (Tammy), Jacob, Deanna, Ian, Courtney, Nicole, Mackenzie; great grandchildren, Malana, Lauren, Tristen , Benjamin; sister Carolyn (Al) Owens of North Bradley, brothers Bill (Caroline) Foster of Midland and Jerry (Georgia) Foster of Sanford. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Wesleyan Church on Thursday Sept 17 at 11:00 am with Pastor Luke Hansen officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Wednesday Sept 16 from 4 until 7 and on Thusday from 10 am until the time of the service.
