Joyce Elaine Boyd Gould passed this life early Saturday, April 8, 2017 from Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia MI. She was born March 6, 1938 in Saginaw, the first daughter of Paul H. and Vivian L (Winkler) Boyd. Joyce was raised in Midland, graduated from Midland High School in 1956, and from Central Michigan University in 1960. She then earned her Masters in Education from CMU, and did further studies at Eastern Michigan University. She was a teacher and later a principal of Fisher School of the Cherry Hill District in Westland MI, until a brain aneurysm in 1971 disabled her in mid-career. She married Gerald Robert (Bob) Gould Jr. on September 14,1996, and he preceded her in death on February 17,2005. She is survived by a sister, Beth (Bill) Schmidt of Midland, a brother Bob (Barb) Boyd of Las Vegas NV, a nephew Craig (Rachel) Schmidt and their children Alden and Evie of Wellesley Hills MA. Also surviving are three cousins, Ron (Mary) Sexton of Midland, Cindy (Mike) Wilmers of Bath MI, and Boyd (Kim) Thompson of Anderson IN. In her last years, she was cared for by two dedicated caregivers and friends: Eloise Woods and Rhonda Henderson. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Mayton III officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Midland Memorial Gardens. On line condolences can be left at smithminer.com
