Kay L. Slocum, 69, passed away January 18, 2012. She was born June 6, 1942 in Flint, MI to Cloyce and Nellie (Measell) McColley. Kay was an English teacher at Phoenix Christian High School for 33 years. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, step son Keith Miner and sister in law Betty McColley. She is survived by her loving husband Duane Slocum, daughter Melissa Miner, step sons Terry Miner, Rodger Miner and Jeff Slocum, step daughter Tricia Arens, brother Richard McColley, grandchildren T.J., Ashley, Crystal, Kara, Kyle, Julie, Joshua, Mike, Tori, Brice and Brendan, great granddaughter Hayllie, sister in law Sharon Ashenfelter and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Ridge Cemetery, Gladwin, MI. Online condolences can be given at smithminer.com.
