Welcome to Smith Miner

(September 8, 1932 – April 1, 2011)

Lawrence L. Luce, 78, of Midland went to Heaven peacefully at home on April 1, 2011, after 6 years with multiple myeloma, with his wife Gloria, the love of his life beside him. Larry was born on Sept. 8, 1932 in Flint and 24 2/3 years ago Larry married his sweetheart Gloria McNeil. Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He worked for GM for 42 yrs before retiring. He was Gloria’s Hospice assistant and he volunteered for the following organizations; Cancer Service as a driver, the American Red Cross, CERT as a team leader and the Midland Citizens Police Academy and Alumni. Larry and Gloria loved camping and boating big time. The best way to describe Larry is; Larry the tool man Luce, he was always there to help others. A special thank you goes out to Elaine and Harry, Gloria’s Hospice friends who were there when Larry and Gloria needed them most. Larry is survived by his loving wife Gloria, who says – my love, thank you for accepting me and for taking care of me and I thank God for bringing you into my life. Larry also will be sadly missed by his daughter, Linda and her family; son, Lance and his family; our beloved cats especially Dr. Boo Boo who was always by him purring and sisters Suzanne and Marilyn. As per Larry’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider any food pantry or any organization that takes care of animals.
