Leonard L. Cobb Sr. age 79, of Midland died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the MidMichigan Medical Center after a long battle with COPD. He was born Oct. 10, 1930 in Midland to the late Clark and Edith (Babcock) Cobb. He married his sweetheart, since age 14, Jo Ann Thurston on Jan. 27, 1951 here in Midland. Mr. Cobb was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War from 1951 to1953. He worked for numerous union jobs over the years including Townsend and Bottom, Saginaw, Karn plant, Bay City and also the Tonopah Test Range in Nevada. Leonard was a member of the Eagle Ridge Church of God including the Salt & Light group that met at KFC on Tuesdays. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife and playing bingo. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann, daughters and sons in law Lu Ann and Randy Jones of Midland, Brenda and Steve Clothier of Shepherd, and son Leonard Cobb Jr. of Midland; grandchildren Travis (Tara) Jones, Matthew (Melissa) Jones, Nicole Clothier; two great-grandchildren Nala and Malachi Jones. He is also survived by two brothers Jim (DeRenda) Cobb of Odessa, TX and Robert (Hilda) Mann of Onaway. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Eagle Ridge Church of God with the Rev. Jim Shanks officiating, burial to follow in the Midland Memorial Gardens with military rites under the auspices of the Midland County Veterans. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly Road.
