Lewis M. Rippee, 91, of Midland died at his home surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Lewis was born on Sept. 18, 1918, in Ava, Missouri to the late Bertha and Charles Rippee. He married his sweetheart Lois Turner on May 15, 1938. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2002. Lewis worked for Dow Chemical as an Chemical Operator, retiring in 1980. He loved cars and was a member of “The Old Car Club”. He loved music and playing his guitars, and played in the “Old Timers” blue grass band. He had a great sense of humor and a kind and loving heart. He will be greatly missed by his family. Lewis is survived by his daughters Deloris Grove of Omaha, Phyllis (Frank Sauer) Bechtel of Saginaw; grandchildren, Tammy (Mark) Hunter of Omaha, NE, Tom (Michelle) Grove Jr. of Omaha, Scott Grove of Omaha, Garrett (Gayle) Bechtel of Midland, Matthew (Sarah) Bechtel of San Francisco, Daniel (Lynnsey) Bechtel of Midland; great grandchildren, Tamara, Holly, Kristin, Andrea, Lauren, Katie, Vanessa, Jakob, Joshua, Derrick, Nathan, Emma, Grace; great great grandchildren, Blake, Chase, Mckenzi, Gabriella, Maylasia; sister, Lorene Maloney of Ava, MO. Lewis was predeceased by his brothers Hershel, Luther, Chuck, Don and Verness. A Funeral Service will be held at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Saturday, March 13 at 11:00 am with the Reverend John Dick of the First Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 12 from 4-7 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
