Lloyd Steven “Joe” Jowanovitz Lloyd Steven Jowanovitz, 88 of Midland, Michigan passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Story Point. Born on April 1, 1928 in St. Paul, MN to Steven and Judith Jowanovitz. He graduated from Alma Wisconsin high school in 1945. Went on to the the University of Wisconsin majoring in Chemistry. Drafted in 1950, he graduated from Officer Candidate School and he served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After his service, Lloyd went on to grad school at Iowa State and continued his education with a law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1961. He joined Dow Chemical as a Patent Attorney and worked for Dow in Midland for 33 years, retiring in 1994. Joe, as he was known to all his friends, was active in Big Brothers of Midland, a member of the Kiwassee Kiwanis, and Elks Club. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and husband to whom he often imparted his wisdom, intelligence and positive outlook on life. He will truly be missed by his family. Lloyd is survived by his wife Janice of 61 years, and their three children; Judy (Mathias) Hinkes, of Richmond, VA, Joseph Jovanovich of Westmont, IL and James (Carla) Jowanovitz of Cincinnati, OH; five grandchildren Steven and Thomas Hinkes, Julian Jovanovich, Alex and Annamarie Jowanovitz. In addition to his parents, Lloyd is preceded in death by his granddaughter Janelle Jovanovich. The family gives special thanks to the employees at Story Point Memory Care for their support and excellence in care provided over the past year. In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. His ashes will be interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in a private family service to be held in June. There are no visitation hours or other services planned.
