Lucille Jane Showalter, 85, of Midland, and formerly of Omaha, NE and Clarkson, Ontario, Canada, went home to be with her husband, on March 10, 2013. Lucille was born in Waterloo, IA on October 7, 1927 to the late Englehart and Anna (Pruisner) Rogers. On Sept. 20, 1952 she married her sweetheart Daniel Joseph Showalter at Sacred Heart Church, Waterloo, IA. Lucille was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She loved baseball and the Loons and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. She is survived by her 9 children, Daniel (Mary Gay) Showalter of Midland, Anne (Bill) McGargill of Omaha NE, Irene “Janet” Lechner of Lincoln NE, Mary Jo Samuelson of Bedford TX, John Showalter of Omaha NE, Lynn (David) Lucas of Omaha NE, Susan (Mike) Rickert of Apple Valley MN, Paul (Lori) Showalter of Akron, OH, Steven (Brandi) Showalter of Houston, TX; 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Lucille was predeceased by her husband Daniel; her parents; step-father Floyd J. Wolfe; sister, Irene Batchelor; brothers Edward and Russell Rogers; and son-in-law Rick Samuelson. Lucille’s family would like to thank the staff at Riverside, the nurses at Heartland, McLaren Hospice, her care giver Kathy Chupp and the Midland Fire Department for their special care and attention. A Memorial Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament in Midland, MI with Father Peter Gaspeny officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
