Lyla June Crall, 93, a longtime resident of Midland, died on October 18, 2018, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.
June was born on June 5, 1925, to Heston and Flossie Dyer in Horton Bay, Michigan. In 1952, her sister Mabel introduced June to a handsome young sailor, Maurice Crall. June and Maurice were married in Midland on April 18, 1953. They had two children, Tim and Martha, and made their home in Midland.
June lived a full life of industriousness, faithfulness and service, always placing God and her family in the center. She was an active member of Poseyville United Methodist Church, participating in a wide variety of activities, outreach and missions. She was a big fan of Southern gospel music (especially singer James Blackwood, her favorite), and she and Maurice enjoyed many concerts and conventions over the years. After Maurice’s retirement from Dow Chemical Co., they spent two decades’ worth of winters as snowbirds in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
June is predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Mabel, Evelyn and Arlene. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Maurice, and her children, Tim and Marylou Crall of Leroy, Michigan, and Martha and Joe Jansen of Dallas, Texas.
June possessed an underrated sense of humor and proved that you didn’t have to be loud to be heard, didn’t have to be powerful to be respected, didn’t need advanced degrees to have a positive impact on the world around you. She will be deeply missed, but she is now reaping her heavenly reward, which she had long looked forward to.
There will be a celebration of June’s life in Midland at a later date. For those planning an expression of sympathy, please make a donation in her name to the charity of your choice.
