Margaret DeLoach, age 76, died Saturday morning, Sept 4, 2010, at the home of her sister in Allegan, MI, where she was receiving care through Wings of Hope Hospice for end-stage liver failure. She is survived by three brothers, Vincent DeLoach (Martha Stephens) of Memphis, TN; Joseph DeLoach (Fresia Granados) of Traverse City, MI; Beau DeLoach (Ellen Clement) of Ann Arbor, MI; one sister, Judy Peelle (Tom) of Allegan, MI; two sisters-in-law, Charlene DeLoach of Farmington, MI, and Jo Weth of Battle Creek, MI; a stepsister, Jean Ann McLean, and a stepmother, Rosemary DeLoach, both of Marquette, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Magdaline DeLoach (1964) and Allen Duane DeLoach (1988); three brothers, David DeLoach (1935), Tom DeLoach of Battle Creek (2006), and William DeLoach of Memphis, TN and Farmington, MI (2007). Margaret was born February 12, 1934 in Benton Harbor, MI. She grew up in Benton Harbor, Detroit, Flint, and Blissfield, MI, graduating from Blissfield H.S. in 1951. She earned a B.A. in elementary education in 1955 from Siena Heights College (now University) in Adrian, MI, and later earned an M.A in Education from Michigan State University. She taught in elementary schools in the Detroit area, Lansing, Marquette (at Northern Michigan University?ÇÖs John D. Pierce Laboratory School), and Midland (Bullock Creek), and had been an elementary school principal in Waverly Schools (Lansing) and Bullock Creek. Margaret developed a second, very fulfilling career as a commissioned lay minister (1989, Saginaw Diocese) and spiritual advisor in the Midland area, also earning a second master?ÇÖs degree in Pastoral Ministry (Marygrove College, Detroit). She was a long-time communicant at Saint Brigid’s Catholic Church in Midland, where she provided many years of service in both staff and volunteer positions. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 12:00 noon at Saint Brigid’s Catholic Church with Father Rick Bokinskie and Deacon Al Oliver officiating . The family will receive friends at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Wed. Sept 8. from 4 to 6:30 pm and at the Church from 11:00 am until the time of the service. There will be a Vigil Service on Wed. at 6:30 pm. Interment will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield, MI.
