Welcome to Smith Miner

(June 16, 1941 – May 18, 2013)

Margaret Knadler left this earth on May 18, 2013. Born on June 16, 1941, Margaret was always a “tough cookie”. Although she lived much of her childhood and young life in institutions, she kept a close bond with her family. Margaret worked for many years at The Arnold center and Kindercare. She loved children and the children at her workplace called her “mamma”. The days that she was scheduled to work at the daycare were her happiest. Margaret also loved to knit, go to country music concerts and travel. She never let a little thing like her wheelchair stop her from doing anything she set her mind to do. Margaret led a very fulfilling life that included many adventures and also included opportunities to teach and lead others with disabilities to see that anything is possible. Margaret showed grace during times of adversity and was a shining light for those who knew her. Margaret leaves two sisters, Mary Perry and Mable Pociask. She also leaves her beloved housemate and best friend, Rose Rickard, friends Keith Brooks, Charlotte and Tom Williams, Evelyn Travis, Audrey Yost, Diane and Billy Max Dolly, Priscilla Devericks, Lois and Leslie Novak, Cecelia Neilson, Allyson Powell, Bonnie Martin, Kristin Parsell and Jan Lampman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved cat Sergi. A Visitation with a Prayer Service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Visitation will start at 5:00 pm with Prayer Service at 6:30. Burial will take place at Elm Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Arc of Midland. Online condolences can be left at www.smithminer.com
